Vi søker erfaren kommunikasjonsrådgiver ved Financial Mechanism Office (FMO), sekretariatet for EØS-midlene i Brussel. 

Gjennom EØS-avtalen er Norge en del av det indre marked i Europa. Avtalen har en felles målsetting om å redusere sosiale og økonomiske ulikheter i Europa og styrke samarbeidet mellom landene. EØS-midlene er Norges bidrag til dette. Vi er nå på vei inn i en ny finansieringsperiode med et budsjett for EØS-midlene på 3,2 milliarder euro, fordelt på 15 mottakerland. Samtidig er vi i ferd med å avslutte den forrige finansieringsperioden som hadde et budsjett på 2,8 milliarder euro. Norge finansierer rundt 97 prosent av midlene, mens Island og Liechtenstein bidrar med resten. 


Communication Officer

Are you a dynamic and highly motivated professional looking to make a positive impact in Europe? Join our team as the new Communication Officer at the Financial Mechanism Office (FMO) in Brussels.

The EEA and Norway Grants, managed by the FMO, work together with partners in the Beneficiary and Donor States for a green, democratic and resilient Europe. The Communication Officer will join a team dedicated to communicating the opportunities made available through the Grants and the results achieved from the work in programmes and projects in the Beneficiary States. 

As a Communication Officer your tasks will involve:

  • Identify communication opportunities to enhance the visibility of the EEA and Norway Grants;
  • Work closely with our communication network in the Donor and Beneficiary States;
  • Follow up on the compliance of communication requirements of relevant actors in the Beneficiary States and provide them with communication advice;
  • Produce content for the EEA and Norway Grants’ website and social media channels, including videos and other visual elements;
  • Help manage the EEA and Norway Grants’ online platforms, including our eeagrants.org website, our media library and our Data and Results portal;
  • Plan and execute communication projects.

Beyond the listed tasks, you will handle any other duties as required, adapting to the dynamic needs of the role and the goals of the FMO.

As part of your role, you will also engage in travel to fulfil your responsibilities and will be reporting to the Head of Unit.  The position is open only to nationals of the EEA EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).

Qualifications

  • A Master’s-level university degree in a relevant field.

Experience

  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience;
  • Experience in web editing and managing, and knowledge of Content Management Systems (preferably Drupal);
  • Experience with social media channels, community management and online analysis tools;
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing (preferably Adobe);
  • Experience in strategic and operational communication;
  • Experience in organising high-level conferences, workshops, and public events;
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, such as governmental representatives, NGOs, public institutions, etc.

Skills

  • Understanding of the EEA and Norway Grants;
  • A strong storyteller who can develop powerful and clear messages;
  • Web development and management skills;
  • A strong team player with good interpersonal skills, including a dynamic and flexible attitude, and cultural sensitivity;
  • Ability to multitask and to work with tight deadlines.

Languages

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, the working language of the FMO, is a requirement.

Employment Terms

Annual starting salary: EUR 106,704

Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the grade. The Managing Director of the FMO reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a level different from that advertised.

About us

The Financial Mechanism Office (FMO) - affiliated with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) - carries out the day-to-day management of the EEA and Norway Grants. The Grants are Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein’s contribution to reducing economic and social disparities in the European Economic Area (EEA) and strengthen bilateral relations and partnerships between the Donor States and the 15 Beneficiary States (Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia). Norway provides around 97% of the Grants and Iceland and Liechtenstein the rest.

We are now entering a new funding period with a budget of 3.2 billion euros. At the same time, we are closing the current funding period with a budget of 2.8 billion euros.

The programmes in the new funding period will focus on these overall priorities: 

  • European green transition
  • Democracy, rule of law and human rights
  • Social inclusion and resilience
